A book we take for granted.

At Venture on Sunday we changed it up a little bit and did an interview with a gentleman by the name Patrick Klein some of you may know him. He is the director of an organization called Vision Beyond Borders. www.visionbeyondborders.org. His organization has been overseas more times than I could even imagine. They are doing some of the most incredible things in the name of spreading the gospel of Jesus, and that is what they do. They bring Bibles to people groups that may not have a single Bible or may never ever get one unless they bring one in. Pat told stories about people begging for just a piece of the Bible and the excitement they had when they got the whole book. Stories of whole villages coming to know Jesus just because of a single page ripped from a bible. People who are having to read their Bibles in secret or hide it when they are in public due to persecution by their government.

I know what some of you are thinking. Why? Let them believe what they want. Why do we bring our religion to them? Well to that I say Jesus told us to. He told us to bring his word to all nations, every tribe and tongue. It makes me feel bad for us in North America. People begging for Bibles in some of these countries might get killed for reading the it. In America, we have two or more in our houses collecting dust. We don't have to fight for anything we believe in. If we want to fight for something we go to a Black Friday sale. We believe in what the market/media wants us to believe in. We are so blind to the real truth that is sitting on our shelves or in our closet, even in our hotel dresser drawers.
Would we take our faith in Jesus more seriously if we were persecuted for reading the Bible? Would we fight to get a Bible if our government said no more freedom of religion? Would we then realize that this book is for real? Would we realize that the Bible isn't just a book, it is a way of life?

I like to challenge people, if you haven't read my blog before, now you know. I believe challenges make people stronger. If you haven't sat down and dusted off your Bible lately. I highly recommend trying it. I guarantee it will change your life forever. If you don't know where to start, try Mathew. Read about Jesus and what He did.
I hope that this will encourage you to take the Bible more seriously, because around the world people are willing to risk life just to have one.

Always praying that God will speak to you that choose to read.
Go read your bible.

Peace out and God Bless,
Andy
