Trash cans and Back Alleys

Tonight was Venture's downtown prayer walk. Its pretty simple; we walked downtown praying for the business, their employees, for the people we saw walking on the street. Praying for the needs of Bozeman.
We did this for about 45 minutes and were going to meet our group for ice cream and to talk about what we may have observed.
Right before we walked into the Chocolate Moose (the ice cream/ candy shop) we saw a man walking in our direction. He was tall, his face was weathered and complemented by a long gray beard with a ratted braid at the end. The beanie on his head covered the mop of his long gray hair. He stopped right before we passed near a trash can and waited for us to pass. We knew what he was doing. We turned around  as he was walking away from the trash can he was digging into.
(Sometimes Andy and I read each other minds this is one of those cool and rare moments)
I pulled out my wallet and Andy ran down the street to invite him for a meal.

Through out all of Bob's ramblings there was something he said as we were leaving that struck our hearts so deeply.

"Man... I have my wants, but I got what I need: A place to sleep, a little bit of food now and then and this...  I gotta have human interaction sometimes..."

Think about that.... chew on it a little....

Wants.... Needs... Some people dont know the difference anymore. I know Bob knows.

Human interaction, however, is something everyone wants... needs... desires; regardless if you live in a mansion, in the 'burbs,or in a back alley.
Everyone needs a eye contact, a smile, a touch, a simple conversation; it is how we as human beings thrive.

We need to be loved.

Please pray for Bob: that his needs may be met, that his place stays warm and dry; that we may meet him again so we can continue to show him God's love.

Please continue to pray for Venture.

And please pass on our blog, we believe the more people praying for what we are doing the more impact we can be to Bozeman. Its not about us, but about what God is doing.
